Summer holidays are now here for the British population during the busiest and most popular holiday period. Online research shows, over a quarter of Britons will be driving to their holiday destinations by
car this summer. It appears to be the older generations who are setting this trend, with over a third of those aged 55 and over choosing to drive to their holiday destination.
A survey revealed that over three-fifths of holiday drivers are choosing to drive to their holiday destination within the UK. Cornwall is a popular UK holiday hotspot with over a tenth of British holiday drivers
choosing to visit a beach resort. For Holidaymakers in the North, the Lake District is another popular destination this summer, with around one in six choosing to drive to or through the beautiful lakes
region. France is a popular country to holiday in with one in ten of British holiday drivers choosing to vacation there; the next most popular destination is Spain, closely followed by Italy.
What is driving holidaymakers to get behind the wheel? Over a fifth of those surveyed found that driving to their holiday is much cheaper. Over One in ten take to the roads as they feel that it is easier for
traveling with children and also because they generally carry too much luggage, wanting to pack everything but the kitchen sink. Pets are a consideration when choosing to holiday by car, with around a
tenth of all holiday makers wanting their dog to come and enjoy the break too.
